Sarah Pilkington

Sarah Pilkington is a dedicated family law attorney at Trusler Legal PLLC who has been practicing since graduating from the University of Texas School of Law in 2008. Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, Sarah has made Austin her home, where she balances her thriving legal career with raising her three children.

Sarah’s approach to family law is deeply personal. “I wanted to be able to walk alongside people during one of the most stressful periods of their lives to make them feel seen and, hopefully, find a resolution they can be at peace with,” she explains. As a parent herself, Sarah has gained invaluable perspective on the complexities of co-parenting, which she brings to her practice every day.

Beyond the courtroom, Sarah is an avid runner who has completed multiple half marathons—one of her proudest accomplishments alongside her career and her three children. When she’s not advocating for her clients, you might find her enjoying tennis, reading a good book on an Austin patio, or planning her next travel adventure.

Sarah is actively involved with several community organizations, including the Junior League of Austin, women’s literacy initiatives, and car seat safety programs. Her commitment to these causes reflects her desire to make a meaningful difference both inside and outside the legal profession.

Those who know Sarah best describe her as “extroverted, funny, smart, persistent, and sassy”—traits that have served her well since childhood, when she famously wore the same pair of pink rain boots every day for over a year and a half, demonstrating an early sign of the determination she now brings to her cases.

Sarah finds particular fulfillment when clients tell her she’s helped them feel seen or brought light to a difficult situation. Her guiding philosophy is simple yet profound: “In five years, will this matter? If not, don’t sweat it. If so, get it right.”

While her schedule is busy with work and family, Sarah still makes time for trivia nights and dreams of someday visiting Australia and Africa, learning Spanish, and taking up horseback riding. She’s also known among friends for her legendary Triple Layer Chocolate Pumpkin Pie.
