Who determines how much child support is to be paid?

Child support is usually based on the guidelines established by the Texas Attorney General. It's generally 20% of net income (gross income minus taxes with one exemption taken) for one child, 25% for 2 children, 30% for three children, 35% for four children and 40% for five or more children. Child support is capped at a certain point and it will take other children into consideration. The person who pays support also maintains health insurance for the children.
